October Information
It is hard to believe it is October already and a month of
school has come and gone! Library books
and guided reading books should start coming home soon. Please be sure to read them every night and
bring them back the next day.
Here are some dates to remember this month:
· October
2- Half Day (dismissal at 12:55)
· October
12- Open house (come see what we do all day!)
· October
16- No School
· October
30- fall party
In reading this month we will continue to identify the
parts of a book (front cover, back cover, title). We will also ask and answer questions about books we read.
In math we
continue to count and recognize numbers.
In science we will
also continue to learn about the different types of weather and how it changes.
In social studies we will
continue to learn about the United States symbols (Bald Eagle, Mount Rushmore,
Statue of Liberty, the American Flag.)

Homework
We will be creating a monthly activity calendar that you can complete at home with your child. It has some suggested activities that you can do that will reinforce what we have been learning in school.
Remember...read every night for at least 20 minutes! Also, be sure to practice the letters of the alphabet and recognize numbers!

Field Trip
We will be going to the Black Hills Nature Center on September 28/29 (your child's exact date will depend on which class they are in). We will be gone from 9:30-1:30, and will eat lunch at school when we get back. The trip will cost $6 per child. We will need 1 or 2 chaperones per class, so please talk to your child's teacher if you are interested. Permission slips will be sent home in a few days.
Welcome to Kindergarten!
We are excited to start a new school year! Please be sure to sign up for classdojo. Please see your teacher if you need help doing this.
